The best Pu-erh tea 3 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
I'm kind of surprised nobody's talked about puerh here - I've had it a few times and would like to knwo more about it.

In particular I'd like to know if there such thing as "the best Pu-erh tea" or is this just plain personal taste. I've heard some say that tea from Menghai factory is the best, and some say ChangTai is the best.

Any thoughts?

I know that pu-erh comes from Yunnan province in China - right? I can't tell you about factories but I would like to know if there are other places - provinces or countries - that make pu-erh tea.

I'm a little bit concerned about authenticity since pu-erh is quite expensive. Are there fake pu'erhs on the market?

Well, how can tea be faked? Have you ever come accross such an incident? Also its the first time I am hearing about PU erh Tea. Can someone provide more details about it? Such as taste, qualities and use etc?

Maybe the tea is real, but is it really Pu erh? Is "Darjeeling" tea always 100% darjeeling?

Pu erh is a compressed aged tea from Yunnan province in China. It has an "earth" taste - some say it tastes like dirt... but it's supposed to be very good for the health. I don't really like it myself.

@ static.. I really didnt get your point. I mean does fake tea mean thatits not the particular tea at all by the name of which it is being sold?

Secondly can you tell me a few health benefits of Pu erh tea?

I've had pu-erh a few times and it's not really "my cup of tea" but I think static means that the tea is valuable so some vendors will sell tea that is not really pu-erh just to get the higher price. Except pu-erh has quite a disintintive look and smell, it's hard to imagine there could be a "fake" puerh.

As for health benefits, it's supposed to be good for digestion. Any others anyone?
