Is anyone concerned about the safety of Chinese tea? Lots of news about contaminated food, you have to wonder if the tea is safe to drink.

I don't drink a lot of Chinese tea myself, so these stories make me inclined to stay away from it.

I think it's scary. For the time being I'd rather stick to Indian or Ceylon tea, but who knows if it's any better?

It's important to make a distinction between China and Taiwan in this matter, because food safety standards are much higher in Taiwan.

There's seems to be some confusion about whether Taiwan and China are the same - but in fact Taiwan is a self-governing territory (some would say country) with a much better developed infrastructure than China's. So although I am concerned about the safety of China's tea, I don't hesitate to drink Taiwan tea - Taiwan oolong - my favorite beverage in the world.
