German book on green tea 1 Year, 11 Months ago Karma: 0
I came across a nice lttle book the other day about green tea. It's in German and my knowledge of German is quite limited, but it was such an attractive little book I had to pick it up.

The author is Josef Neumayer and the _title_ of the book is Grüner Tee - has anybody else seen this?

There are recipes, a section about the history of tea and information about growing tea. Just wish I could get more out of it - is there a translation available?

Hi there - I'm glad I came across this board - it looks brand new so I'm happy to take part in the "birth" of a new tea site...

Anyways - I DO know this book - I too don't read much German but I picked up this book about 5 or so years ago and LOVE it. It inspired me to seek out good green tea - better than the Lipton stuff at the supermarket anyway

Hi Emily,

Welcome to the board and thanks for your contribution. You're right - it's a brand new board - as you can see by the few posts, but hopefully it will pick up soon. I'm busy constructing the web site so excuse my late reply.

I agree with you that supermarket green tea is best to be avoided. Do you have a favorite tea merchant where you can get decent green tea? I plan to have a secition of the board dedicated to discussing the pros and cons of various tea merchants.

Green tea recipe 1 Year, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
Here's a recipe from this German book about Green Tea. Pretty sure I got the translation right

500g fresh green beans
2 crushed cloves of garlic
4 teaspoons gunpowder green tea
4 cups water

Cook the green beans in a pot.
Make the green tea with the water.
Remove the tea leaves.
Roast the garlic in a lightly oiled pan and when it is golden add the tea.

Mix well.

Put the beans into a bowl and pour the tea marinade over them - serve immediately.

I tried this recipe the other day and it's very good! It's my first experience cooking with tea - I've eaten tea leaves before but never used liquid tea for cooking.

Try it!
