Wu long tea and caffeine 1 Year, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
I am searching for a caffeine free wu long tea. Does this exist? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately I cannot have caffeine. Thank you in advance.

There is no natural caffeine-free wu long tea. All types of tea (except some herbal teas) have caffeine, so unless the tea is decaffeinated (with a chemical process) there will be caffeine in it.

However - if you can tolerate a little bit of caffeine, you can reduce the levels by steeping the tea for a short time. Wu Long is excellent for this because you can use about 5 grams of tea in a small tea pot or coffee mug and let it steep for - say - 20 seconds and then pour off all the liquid. The tea leaves can be re-steeped many times this way, and the short brewing time will lessen the amount of caffeine.

@ Tea Man.. I guess herbal teas also have some percetage of caffiene in them.. because as much as I know tea leaves have caffiene properties in them.. The type of processing then changes the percentage of the caffiene. e.g the ones more processed have higher amounts of caffiene like black teas
